Upcoming Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 To Replace Snapdragon 652

Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 will be finally launched this month. The company has sent out invitations for the launch event scheduled for May 9 in China, as per a report by Anzhuo website.Qualcomm has sent out invites for the Snapdragon 660 unveiling , the rumor mill’s favorite chipset for premium mid-rangers of late. The 660 will follows in the footsteps of the excellent 652 but will be much closer to the company’s flagship chip.


The Snapdragon 660 SoC may have custom Kryo cores just like on Snapdragon 820 or might use a combination of four Cortex-A73 CPUs clocked at 2.2GHZ and four Cortex-A53 CPUs clocked at 1.9GHz. The GPU tagged with the SoC will be an Adreno 512. The SoC is also said to feature support for UFS 2.1 storage and have two LPDDR4 RAMs clocked at 1866MHz, as per past leaks. The Snapdragon 660 will reportedly go into mass production in second quarter of 2017 and is expected to power phones from Oppo and Vivo.

Although the company will be announcing the SoC on May 9, it is expected to go into mass production in the second quarter of this year and may show up in smartphones from Chinese brands.

In a recent report it was suggested that Samsung, the manufacturer of Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 835 processor, has already started working on the Snapdragon 845. The upcoming 845 is likely to be based on 7nm process.
